3 New Cafes and Bars That Opened in Taman Pelangi JB in 2025 and 2026
Taman Pelangi's Cafe Scene Is Growing Fast
Taman Pelangi has had a strong food reputation for years — Korean BBQ, heritage zi char, and late-night seafood along Jalan Perang. But its cafe scene has expanded quickly in the last twelve months. Three new venues opened in 2025 and early 2026, covering brunch, artisan tea, and nightlife. All three are confirmed open as of mid-2026 with multiple independent sources.
Rowan & Betty — Brunch Cafe (Opened 2026)
The newer sister brand of Rowan & Parsley, a popular brunch spot in JB's CIQ corridor. Rowan & Betty opened in 2026 at a 2nd-floor unit on Jalan Sri Pelangi 3 — reached by lift, with a retro/vintage interior that is warmer and more relaxed than its older sibling.
The menu blends Western brunch with Asian inflections. The Chopped Beef Cornedict (RM39) is the signature — slow-cooked beef, hollandaise, toasted muffin. The Chicken Tikka Masala with Roti Canai (RM22) is a lower-cost option that works better than it sounds. Salmon Donburi (RM38) is the safe bet for Japanese-leaning guests. Not halal-certified but no pork or lard — confirmed with staff.

Cha Haus — Modern Chinese Tea House (Opened September 2025)
Cha Haus (chahaustea.com) is a registered specialty tea house that opened in September 2025 at Pusat Komersial Pelangi on Jalan Sri Pelangi 4. The concept is rooted in new Chinese tea culture — loose-leaf brews, ceramic service, and a quieter pace that stands apart from bubble tea chains. The owner trained extensively in tea before opening.
Signature teas include Mountain Bloom, Jade Dew, and CocoJuju, served with complimentary mini egg tarts. The pastry selection runs to Longan & Oolong Tea Jelly Cake and Pistachio Basque Cheesecake. A Tea Beers product line (non-alcoholic, tea-infused) was launching in mid-2026. 120-minute dine limit during peak hours.

Bar9 — JB's First Meatless Bar (Rebranded May 2025)
Bar9 has operated in Taman Pelangi for several years but repositioned in May 2025 as JB's first meatless bar — vegetarian food with a full drinks menu. It is one of the few venues in the neighbourhood with regular live music (Friday and Saturday nights) and a midnight licence.
The food menu is vegetarian Asian-Western: mushroom pizza (RM28.90), aglio olio (RM23.90), mala fried rice, tempeh fries, satay. Draft Tiger and Guinness on tap. Weekday cocktail promotions. Private room available for events. Pet-friendly on the outdoor section. Google rating 4.7/5 across 74 reviews; live Eatigo bookings available as of July 2026.
