Please disclose the free stay
A free stay in return for a video is a commercial relationship, even when no money changes hands. Good practice, and what we ask of you:
- ✓ Say it in the video, early, not only at the end or hidden behind a "show more" link.
- ✓ Put a plain label such as #ad or "sponsored" with the video where viewers will see it, for example "Thanks to Pelangi Capsule Hostel for the free stay".
- ✓ Use YouTube's "paid promotion" setting in the video details.
Malaysia's Content Code (administered by the Content Forum under MCMC) expects endorsements made in exchange for cash or another reciprocal arrangement to be disclosed as advertisements. The US FTC gives similar guidance. Rules differ by country, so check the ones that apply to you and your audience. This is general information, not legal advice.
What we do not do
- ✗ We do not ask for scripted reviews.
- ✗ We do not approve or edit your content.
- ✗ We do not ask you to say only good things. Be honest with your viewers.
